$125 flat. No insurance, no waiting room, no lost half-day. Most drivers are examined, certified, and back on the road in about 30 minutes — medical card in hand.
Laredo moves more truck freight across the border than any other city in America — more than 20,000 trucks a day cross the World Trade Bridge and Colombia Solidarity Bridge, and thousands of drayage drivers, long-haul operators, and carrier fleets are based between Mines Road, Killam Industrial Park, and the Loop. Every one of those drivers needs a current DOT medical card to keep rolling — and losing a day of loads to a slow clinic is money straight off your settlement. That's the problem Laredo DOT exists to fix.
We work around trucker realities: easy access from I-35 and Mines Road, room to park a bobtail or pickup, and appointment times that fit between drops — early mornings and Saturdays included. Full truck parking is minutes away at the TA and Pilot travel centers on the I-35 frontage.

Vision, hearing, blood pressure, urinalysis, and the physical — one certified examiner, one room, roughly 30 minutes. No getting bounced between departments like at the urgent care.
Pass and your certificate prints on the spot. Results are filed with the FMCSA registry electronically before you're back in the cab — nothing for you to mail or upload.
Read the full requirements guide — blood pressure limits, vision standards, and the paperwork that saves your two-year card. Or put your question in the booking form — a two-minute answer beats a wasted trip.
Flat $125, cash or card. That covers the whole exam, your printed med card the same day you pass, and the electronic filing — nothing extra gets tacked on at the desk.
The maximum is 24 months. Certain conditions — controlled blood pressure, diabetes — mean the examiner certifies you for a shorter window, often 12 months, so it can be monitored.
Your license, your meds list with doses, and any glasses, contacts, or hearing aids you wear. Drivers managing diabetes, sleep apnea, or a heart condition should bring recent numbers, a CPAP compliance printout, or a specialist's clearance — it's the difference between certifying at your appointment and coming back twice.
No — that catches a lot of drivers off guard. The urinalysis checks protein, blood, and sugar as a kidney and diabetes screen. Drug testing is a completely separate DOT program handled through your employer or consortium, not part of this exam.
Under 140/90 earns the full two-year card. Between 140–159/90–99 you'll get one year; 160–179/100–109 gets a single three-month card to bring it down; at 180/110 you're disqualified until it's controlled. Skip the energy drinks that morning — borderline cuffs cost more drivers a year than anything else.
Same-day and next-day appointments are usually available, Monday through Saturday. Send the booking request with a time that works around your load and we'll confirm your appointment time and exam location by text or email — usually within the hour during the workday.
The examiner files them electronically with the FMCSA National Registry, and state licensing agencies receive them from there. You leave with the printed certificate for your wallet and your carrier's file.
